If you’re in the market for a mid-size crossover SUV from a reputable auto brand, the 2022 Passport from Honda and the 2022 Blazer from Chevrolet are likely two vehicles that are near the top of your list of models to consider for your next vehicle. Keep reading to learn more about how the 2022 Honda Passport and the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer measure up to each other in some of the most important areas.

New Features

Many details about the 2022 Honda Passport have yet to be officially revealed. More is known for sure about the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer. However, the 2022 Passport is not expected to hit the mainstream auto market with many new features. This mid-size crossover SUV was minorly updated for 2021 and received multiple new features for that model year—including a new standard 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display.

Except for the possible addition of new package options, the 2022 Passport is expected to remain largely unchanged for the 2022 model year. This is not necessarily negative, however. The Honda Passport is already up to date in the areas of performance, style, amenities, and technology—so it doesn’t really need many updates or new features for the 2022 model year in order to be successful.

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer comes equipped with more new features than the 2022 Honda Passport—although its new features are minor updates as well. The Blazer is no longer available with its previously standard 2.5-L four-cylinder engine—instead, a more powerful turbocharged 2.0-L four-cylinder engine is the standard engine for the 2022 model year. Two new colors will also be added to the Blazer’s available exterior paint options for 2022, and most 2022 Blazer models are available with an eye-catching contrasting-color roof.

The standard powertrain for the 2022 Honda Passport is a 3.5-L V6 engine that generates 280 horsepower and pairs with a smooth nine-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is an available feature for all 2022 Passport models, which come standard with front-wheel drive. The acceleration of the 2022 Passport on the road is impressive, and its steering and braking systems are responsive and precise. The 2022 Passport can tow up to 5,000 pounds.

As for the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer, this mid-size crossover SUV comes equipped with either a standard turbocharged 2.0-L four-cylinder engine that generates 228 horsepower or an upgraded 3.6-L V6 engine that delivers 308 horsepower on the road. Both of these engine options pair with a nine-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The maximum towing capacity of the 2022 Blazer can’t touch that of the 2022 Passport. 2022 Blazer models equipped with this crossover’s standard four-cylinder engine can tow just 1,500 pounds, while turbocharged Blazer models can tow up to 4,500 pounds for the 2022 model year.

Both the 2022 Honda Passport and the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer can comfortably seat up to five passengers at one time in their respective two rows of seats. The interior of the 2022 Passport is spacious, well-organized, and constructed with high-quality materials. With its second row of seats folded down, the 2022 Passport offers up to 78 cubic feet of storage space.

The interior of the 2022 Blazer is spacious and attractive as well with an innovative climate control system and an eye-catching two-tone color scheme. This mid-size crossover SUV is available with more premium materials such as leather surfaces, but its base model comes with some cheaper and flimsier materials. Even when its second row of seats is folded down, the 2022 Blazer offers just 64 cubic feet of room for cargo—keep in mind that the 2022 Passport offers 14 additional cubic feet of storage space.

The 2022 Honda Passport and the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer come with similar tech features. Both of these mid-size crossover SUVs come standard with 8.0-inch

infotainment touchscreen displays that feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Available high-tech add-on features for both the 2022 Passport and the 2022 Blazer include a built-in WiFi hotspot, a built-in advanced navigation system, and wireless smartphone charging capability.
